Veronica Gore Ward, 76, of Whiteville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Angel House.

Veronica was born on November 20, 1949, daughter of the late William Cardell Gore and Rachel Irene Edwards Gore. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Veronica Nicole Ward.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Old Dock Church with Pastor Willard McPherson officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-2:45 p.m. prior to the service on Monday, at the church.

Veronica served for 38 years at the secretary for Old Dock Fire Department.

The surviving family includes her husband, Alfred Ray Ward; children, Ray Ward, II, Eric Ward, Heath Ward, Bret Ward and wife, Sally, Rendora Stanley ; grandchildren, Kaylin Ward, Kinsey Ward, Henlee Ward, Raysten Ward, and Laine Stanley.
