Sylvia (Stewart) Pinyan

Sylvia Ann Stewart Pinyan, 64, of Chadbourn, finished her battle with cancer on Monday, November 6, 2023, while in the comfort of her home.

Sylvia was born on January 24, 1959, in Durham, NC, daughter of the late Johnny Franklin Stewart and Emma Jane Godwin Stewart. In addition to her parents, Sylvia is also preceded in death by her loving sons, Eric Pinyan and John Curtis Pinyan; her siblings, Mitchell Gray Stewart, Donald Carl Stewart, Morris Wayne Stewart, and Sandra Jean Bailey.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Worthington Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. 

Sylvia devoted her life to serving others; she was a dedicated member of Klondyke-Chadbourn Fire & Rescue (#621). She also served on many other fire & rescue departments in Columbus County, including Acme-Delco-Riegelwood Fire and Nakina Fire & Rescue.  

To cherish her memory, Sylvia leaves behind her husband of 42 years, Robert Curtis Pinyan of the home; son, Corey Lee Pinyan; brother-in-law, Terry Pinyan and his wife, Angeleen of Chadbourn and many close relatives, friends, and her EMS/Fire family.
