Sylvia Ann (Summersett) Hobbs, 65 passed away peacefully at her home and went to her new Heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 2, 2020.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2020, at Walker Family Cemetery; Rev. Russell Honeycutt will officiate.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Sylvia graduated from Whiteville High School and went on to pursue a career in nursing. She dedicated her life to helping others as a nurse, it suited her servant’s heart perfectly.
She was employed by Columbus County Dream Center where they soon became her second family, she loved her co-workers and every child she came in contact with and often spoke highly of the “family” there.
When Sylvia wasn’t working, she found time to lovingly care for her Uncle Robert and any other family member, at a moment’s notice she would be there, never taking NO for an answer.
Sylvia was also the most devoted daughter to her mother, Betty Dawson who has been a long time resident of Liberty Commons in Whiteville. She would often switch from daughter to nurse mode and quickly give advice as to her mother’s care. Sylvia lived to make her mother’s life as full as possible and it was not in her plans to reach Heaven before her mother but God had other plans for her.
Survivors include her mother, Betty Walker Dawson of Whiteville; brother, Sharon Lee Summersett of Lumberton; many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins; special friends, Caroline Sayre and Shana Scrone; god-child, Rylan Scrone. She also leaves behind her devoted fur babies, Tanner, Max, and Bo.
Sylvia was her family’s loving angel who was devoted to her family and always there for them.
