Ornageburg, Sc - Mrs. Sue Lyell Bardin Bullard, age 98 of Orangeburg, SC and formerly of Chadbourn, NC died Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Orangeburg Regional Medial Center, Orangeburg, SC. She was the widow of Doug Bullard and the daughter of the late Dr. James B. and Susie Rock Bardin. Mrs. Bullard was a graduate of Flora McDonald College in Laurinburg, NC and continued her studies at UNC Chapel Hill and Duke University. She retired from the North Carolina Public Schools after 23 years where she taught in the Columbus and Cumberland County School Systems. She was a member of the Chadbourn Maids and Matrons Club, a longtime member of Chadbourn United Methodist Church where she served as a choir member, Sunday School teacher and a member of the United Methodist Women of the United Methodist Church until moving to Orangeburg, SC in 1993 where she resided at the Methodist Oaks Retirement Community. Final rites will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday at Chadbourn United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Milford Oxendine, Jr. and Reverend Kermit Shrawder officiating. Interment will follow in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Bullard Lawson and husband, Thomas of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren, Carlos O. Tres Gardner, III and wife, Samantha of Sumter, SC, and Doug Gardner and wife, Nancy of Manning, SC; two great-grandchildren, Rivers Ann Gardner and Ridge Gardner both of Manning. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. (one hour prior to the service) Friday at Chadbourn United Methodist Church, 200 E. Second Avenue, Chadbourn, NC 28431.
