Shirley (Fipps) Smith

Shirley Fipps Smith, age 86 formerly of Chadbourn and currently residing in Middlesex, went to be with her Lord early Monday morning, July 25, 2022.

Shirley was born on April 16, 1936 in Columbus County, to the late Emory Alton Fipps and Mary Ianthia Leonard Fipps. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Garland Smith and her siblings: Ethel Edwards, Jesse “Buddy” Fipps, Horace Fipps, J.C. Fipps and Jeanette Fipps Nobles. She was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Leslie Pope.

Graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the Fipps Family Cemetery, Reverend Dr. Dave Heller will officiate.

Visitation will be held from  9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service, at Worthington Funeral Home.

Shirley is survived by her loving children: Rhonda Pope (Joel) of Cornelius, Kim Carter (Randall) of Middlesex, Bill McAbee (Lorraine) of Rocky Point; sister, Margaret Ann Fipps Glenn of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Amber Heintz (Jim), Beth Medlin (Jeramy), Kristina McAbee, Erin McAbee, Toni Carter, Apryl Moore (Kevin), Adam Carter (Heather), and 14 great-grandchildren.
