Mrs. Shirley Darleen Shelton Small, age 62 of Whiteville died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter in Whiteville. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home with Dr. Tommy Bryson officiating. Interment will follow in the McKeithan Family Cemetery, Whiteville. She was a native of Metter, Georgia, the daughter of the late Gerald Temple and Mamie Lou Bryant Shelton and the widow of Ernest Small. . She is survived by sons, Gerald Petey Ward of Whiteville and Raymond Shelton of Whiteville; daughter, Michelle Peele of Mt. Airy; step-father, R.C. Long of Whiteville; sisters, Renee Warren of Whiteville and Nancy Bice of Thomasville; step-brother, Douglas Hyatt of Whiteville; 3 grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10 -11:00 am (one hour prior to service) at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. No service information has been added.
