Mrs. Sarah Hughes Heye, age 87 of Chadbourn died Sunday, April 04, 2010 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville She was the widow of Charles Edward Jake Heye, Sr. and the daughter of the late Bertha E. and Clement Wickliff Hughes, Sr. For over 30 years Sarah was owner and operator of Sarah Heye Florist in Chadbourn and after retirement she continued to assist other florist in the county on a part time basis. Most recently she was employed by the Chadbourn Senior Citizens Center. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2010 at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Sean Roberds officiating. She is survived by two sons, Charles Charlie Edward Heye, Jr. of Seabrook Island, SC and Joseph Kemp Heye of Whiteville; a sister, Orlee H. Fitz of Smithfield; a brother, C.W. Hughes, Jr. of Shallotte Point; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Lifecare Center, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. No service information has been added.
