Samuel "Sammy" Corbett Woodell

Samuel “Sammy” Corbett Woodell, 73, of Fairmont, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Monday, October 23, 2023, at his home.

Sammy was born on April 21, 1950, and was preceded in death by his father, Colon Ray Woodell and his mother, Hallie Bass Woodell; sister, Clemintine Picket; brother, Gordon Woodell.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery, with Pastor Tim Lewis of the East Lumberton Church of God officiating. 

Sammy leaves behind his wife of 18 years, Paulette “Paula” Wyatt Woodell; daughter, Rachel Woodell of Wyoming; step-daughter, Lynn Hayes of Chadbourn; four grandchildren, Randall Hardin (Abigail) of Lumberton, Kendall Carter of Chadbourn, Aliyia Woodell and Isaac Woodell, both of Wyoming; two siblings, Beth Logan of Florida, Brenda Leathlean (Paul) of Tennessee; many special nieces, nephew, and cousins that he loved very much; a special friend of many years, Walter Griffin of Rocky Point, NC.

Sammy was employed with Coca Cola in Wilmington, where he worked for 39 years, prior to his retirement. He also drove a transfer truck for Oxendine Traveling in Leland for many years. Currently, Sammy was employed by Walmart in Lumberton, where he was loved and adored by many of his co-workers; he was also  and avid motorcycle lover.
