Ruth Bass White, age 91 of Chadbourn went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Liberty Commons Nursing Home. Born on July 30, 1927, she was the daughter of the late John Dother Bass and Viola Hayes Bass. Mrs. White was the widow of William Evans McKellar, Sr. and Alton Glasco "Red" White; She was also preceded in death by her son, Roger Reaves McKellar; and nine siblings, Donnie Walters, John Alfred Bass, Robert Bass, Golda Corrine Bass Brigman, Fannie Louise Davis, Bobby Paul Bass, Marshall Guilford Bass, Esma Brigman and Sandra Bass. To cherish her memory, Mrs. White leaves behind her daughter, Peggy McKellar Ward of Faison; a son, William Evans McKellar, Jr. and his wife Edie of Butner; daughter-in-law, Kathy McKellar of Council; grandchildren, Ryan McKellar, Sarah Oliver (Chris), William Monroe, Ward, II (Heather), Kristopher McKellar Ward (Carol), Michael Hayes Ward (preceded), Brandon Gerald Ward, Allison Ruth Allen (Jay), Matthew McKellar (Angie), Elizabeth Fletcher (Robert) and Jason McKellar; great-grandchildren, Emma Oliver, Megan Oliver, Wesley Michael Ward, Evan Matthew Ward, Kaitlyn Grace Love Kornegay, Layla Ruth Halo Allen, Allston Ward-Kornegay (preceded), Abigeal Layken Ward, Robert David Fletcher, Jr., Ethan Lane Fletcher, Ella Reaves Fletcher and Connor Meiggs; great-great-grandchildren, Ansley Meiggs. Funeral services will be conducted at Worthington Funeral Home on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Reverend Chris Inman will officiate the service. Interment will follow in the Clarkton Presbyterian Church Cemetery. A service of Worthington Funeral Home.
