Rossie Hoover Ward

Rossie Hoover Ward, age 88 of Whiteville with to be with the Lord on Monday November 13, 2017 at his residence. Final rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Chip Hannah and Reverend Daniel Tyler Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. He was the son of the late Barcie and Minnie Simmons Ward. He was also preceded in death by four sibling, Rodney Ward, Floyd Ward, Ruth W. Cribb and John Robert Ward. He was employed by Gurganus Milling Company for 34 years until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Claudia Mae Shackelford Ward of the home; two sons, Edward Earl Ward (Laverne) of Whiteville, Michael Rossie Ward (Rosa) of Bethel; her daughter, Emma Mae Ward (Murray) of Nakina; siblings, Lee Ward of Bolivia, Ray Ward of Leland and Pearl W. Lee of Bolivia; eight grandchildren, Edward Ward, Jr. (Ashley), Wesley Edwards, Quentin Ward (Jessica), Michallia Ward, Flint Ward, Michael Rossie Ward, Jr., Adam Ross Ward and Ann Marie Ward; four great-grandchildren, Austin Ward, Kaitlyn Ward, Emily Ward and Airlie Ward. The family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
