Robin was born on February 10, 1961, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Robert Lloyd Kinlaw and Jewel Lorene Bohannon Kinlaw.

Survivors include her children: Stephanie Lorraine Royal (Michael) of the home, Steven Royal (Victoria) of South Carolina, Sabrina Cartrette (Jeffery) of Laurinburg; siblings: Dale Kinlaw, Lang Kinlaw, Janelle Kinlaw; 10 Grandchildren
