Robert Eugene Cox

Robert Eugene Cox, 77, of Chadbourn, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, following a recent illness.

A celebration of life service will be scheduled when safe to do so.

Before retiring, Robert was director of Radiology at the Baltimore VA Medical Center. He and his beloved wife, Virginia, retired to Chadbourn and became very active in the community. He was a member of Chadbourn United Methodist Church. He also was active in various community organizations, including the Chadbourn Revitalization, Chadbourn Depot Museum, Care and Share Food Bank, and Columbus County Literacy Council.

Survivors include his daughter, Cathleen Brown, and her husband, Gregory Brown, of Matthews, North Carolina; special friend, Em Nobles of Chadbourn, and her family; nieces, Judy Wooten of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Greta Heye of Whiteville, North Carolina, and Stephanie Miller of Whiteville, and their families; sister-in-law, Dolores Cox of Whiteville; and many other beloved nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Virginia Cox; and his siblings, James Cox, Doris Hardee, Ernestine Sellars, Horace Cox and John Hedley Cox.
