Obituary
Robert Franklin Batten, 85, of Whiteville, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, while in the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Whiteville, NC.
Robert was born on October 30, 1937, son of the late Jesse Vann Batten and Bessie Cordilia Soles Batten. In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded in death by his siblings, J.E. Batten, Grover Batten, Billy R. Batten, Sr., Joe Batten, and J.C. Batten.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Worthington Funeral Home, with Pastor Scott Crabtree officiating; burial will follow in the Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.
The family will speak to friends from 1:00-1:45, prior to the service on Friday, at the funeral home.
To cherish his memory, Robert leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Annie Cartrette Batten; son, Robert Franklin "Frankie" Batten, Jr. (Linda) of Nakina; step-children, Rebecca McDowell (Ronald) of Clarendon, Laura Spivey (Michael) of Whiteville, Lisa Mills (Chuck) of Whiteville, Mark Fisher (Cindy) of Whiteville; granddaughter, Emilee; step-grandchildren, Courtney, Christy, Phillip, Hannah, Zack, Bontee, Scott, Justin, and Brandy; 15 great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.
