Reverend Dr. Charles E. Williams, Jr., age 73 of the Five Points Community in Chadbourn, went to meet his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, April 21, 2022, while in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.
Chuck, as he was lovingly known, was born on October 31, 1948, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Charles Edward, Sr. and Theresa Mae Johnson Williams. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ricky Moore, his brother, Louis Williams, Sr. and his grandchild, Isiya Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Living Word Church in Chadbourn with Pastor Darren Bellamy officiating. Interment will follow in the Butler Branch Cemetery in Fair Bluff.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time of the service on Saturday.
A viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
Charles attended the historic Carver Vocational Technical High School, where he learned his skill as an electrician. He worked as an electrician for many years, later becoming a master electrician, licensed and bonded his own business. He sang professionally with the Christianaires of Baltimore for more than 20 years; his tenor voice can be heard on many of their recordings..... He would later form his own gospel group. Charles preached the word of God. He was licensed and ordained in Baltimore, MD. He attended Wings of Victory Bible College and Seminary in Baltimore, MD, and was Godly proud to obtain his Doctorate Degree. He was later called to Pastor the Renewed Faith Church in Baltimore. He pastored until his retirement, but never stopped singing and preaching the Word of God.
Survivors include his wife, Vernie Ruth Moore Williams of the home; children, Glenn C. Moore (Aleshia) of Chadbourn, Charles Edward Williams, III of Fair Bluff, Anthony Tremayne Williams of Chadbourn; step-daughter, Shyrita Frazier (Jimmie) of Charlotte; a step-son, Darryl Turner and wife, of Baltimore, MD; step-brother, Donnell Johnson of Baltimore, MD; siblings, Beverly Moore (Johnny Lee) of Clarkton, Angela Burden (Ronnie) of Baltimore, MD, Russell Williams, Marsha Williams of Baltimore; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
