Ray Atkins Obituary

Ray Atkins, 84 of the China Grove Community, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 7, 2025, at his residence.


Ray was born on August 27, 1940, the son of the late Ernest Thurman Atkins and Clara Cecil Bowen Atkins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Frankie Carol Green Atkins and his brother, John William Atkins.


He honorably served his country in the United States Army.


Ray was employed in the textiles industry for many years until his retirement.


Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the Worthington Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wendell Ray officiating.    The burial will follow in the China Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.


Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm – 2:45 pm prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.


Ray leaves behind a daughter, Audrey A. Burchette (Ronnie) of Cerro Gordo; sons, Kenneth Ray Atkins (Debbie) of Delco and Luther Kevin Atkins (Stephanie) of Whiteville; stepsister, Linda Whaley of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Austin Burchette, Michael Atkins, Alexis Burchette and Nicole Morrison; great-grandchildren, Asher Burchette, Aubrey Dehne, Caden Morrison and Briley Morrison.
