Pete Meares Obituary
Louis Gilbert "Pete" Meares, age 93 of the Porter Swamp Community in Cerro Gordo, peacefully went to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at his home.
Pete was born on June 12, 1927, in Columbus County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora “Lee” Taylor Meares and his siblings, Robert Alton Meares, Allene M. Rambonnet, Ruth Oma Meares, Evander Euclid "Van" Meares, Wilton Emerson Meares, Veva Christine Meares, Hubert Floyd Meares, Claude Everett Meares, Alice Marie Meares.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020, in the Powell Cemetery, Fair Bluff; Rev. Tim Moore will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 11:00-11:30, prior to the service.
Survivors include his son, Anthony Lee Meares and wife, Renita, of Cerro Gordo; grandchildren, Taylor Cockerham, Carson Meares, and Jordan Meares; great-grandchildren, Jaxton Cockerham and Abigail Cockerham
