Nelda Sue Horne

Nelda Sue Horne age 69, of Martinez, GA and formerly of Whiteville, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at the ManorCare Rehab Center in Marietta, GA.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn with Pastor Willard McPherson officiating.  Interment will follow in Columbus Memorial Park Whiteville. Visitation will be held from 1:00-1:45, prior to the service on Sunday. 

She was the daughter of the late Henry Horne and Polly Kate Edwards Horne, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Henry Donald “Don” Horne.

She was an instructor at Southeastern Community College for many years and later in the Georgia Public School system, for over 25 years.

Nelda is survived by a son, Brian Edward Dowless and his wife, Katherine of Evans, GA; a daughter, Sara Louise Dowless Herndon and her husband, Perry of Marietta, GA; a sister, Diane H. Tison and her husband, Edgar of Whiteville, NC; six grandchildren, Kate Herndon, Evelyn Herndon, Emersyn Dowless, Avery Dowless, Henry Dowless and Jack Herndon.
