Minnie Pearl (Sweat) Hunt

Minnie Pearl Sweat Hunt, age 76 of White Oak, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown, NC.  

Minnie was born on March 11, 1945 to the late James Larry Sweat and Beulah Mae Hunt Sweat. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Terry Sweat, Billy Dean Sweat, James Howard Sweat, Jerry Sweat, Eula Mae Hunt, Cletus Deal, Marie Davis, Dale Sweat, and infant baby boy Hunt. She was also the widow of Harless Hunt, who preceded her in 1995.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn, with Rev. Roger Strickland and Rev. Lacy Norris officiating. Interment will follow in the Cherokee Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:45, prior to the service on Saturday.

Minnie was a member of Cherokee Chapel Baptist Church in Chadbourn, of which she attended faithfully for many years.

Surviving family includes children, Eddie Ray Sweat (Retha) of White Oak, Harless Ray Hunt (Lisa) of White Oak, Teresa Stevens (Gary) of Emporia, VA, Lewis Hunt (Alfreda) of Chadbourn, Michael Lewis of Whiteville, Carey Mae Hunt of Lumberton, Gladys Hunt of Lumberton, Michelle Hunt (Dwight) of Rowland; siblings, James Sweat, Jr. (Alice) of Okeechobee, FL, Russell Sweat of Chadbourn, Rose Smith (Jimmy) of Hollywood, FL, Alfreda Hunt (Lewis) of Chadbourn, Merlene Davis of California; 29 Grandchildren and 17 Great-grandchildren. Special nieces and nephews include Dicky Stegall, Henry Wood, Paul Wood, James Rodney Wood and Chris Wood.
