Mildred Annette Ward Efird, age 78 of Clarkton, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 11, 2021.
Mildred was born on March 20, 1942. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey C. Ward and Bertha Emaline Nunnery Ward; her husband of 56 years, Jason Tony Efird and her siblings, Shirley W. Brown and Faye W. Bullock.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Worthington Funeral Home, with Pastor Coy Long and Pastor Curtis Shirley officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. *The service will live streamed on Worthington Funeral Home Facebook Page*
Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:45, prior to the service.
Mildred was a faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she served as the Church Treasurer and Deacon. She volunteered for many years at Whiteville City Schools, RSVP, Woodmen of the World, Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, and Columbus Regional Healthcare System; Mildred was also honorably recognized as Volunteer of the Year.
Survivors include her children: Vernon Efird of Norfolk, VA, Denise Efird Branch and husband, Kevin, of Clarkton; three grandchildren: Adam Branch of Clarkton, Erin Scott (Andrew) of Supply, and Shelly Nix (Michael) of Boardman; three great-grandchildren: Morgan Nix, Kenzie Nix, Austin Lanier, and Baby Scott (on the way); siblings, Gracie Miller (Terry) of Whiteville, Roland David Ward of Richmond, VA, Robert Morris Ward (Donna) of Clarkton, and Cubby Ward (Beth) of Boardman.
