Mary Ann (Farr) White Obituary

Mary Ann Farr White, 79, of Jacksonville, FL, and a native of Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Born to the late Robert Bernice Farr and Emma Fennell Farr, Mary Ann was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her warmth, strength, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mary Ann met the love of her life, John William White, when they were in middle school—he was her paperboy. From those early days, they became sweethearts, and their love story blossomed into 59 beautiful years of marriage. Together, “Granny” and “Papa John” shared a deep passion for fishing and could often be found casting a line from the pier when they weren’t on the sidelines cheering for their grandchildren.

She found immense joy in life’s simple moments—finding treasures at garage sales, cooking Sunday dinners, decorating for Christmas (her favorite time of year), and traveling, especially with her sister Judy. Her love of cooking was one of the ways she expressed her care for others. Mary Ann loved sharing her favorite recipes with her girls and was always so proud when they made one of her dishes.

Family was the heart of her world. She was a proud and enthusiastic supporter of her grandchildren, rarely missing a game, a competition, or a celebration. Her presence was a constant source of encouragement and unconditional love.

Above all, Mary Ann was a God-loving woman whose faith guided her every day. A devoted member of Hogan Baptist Church, she found great comfort in worship, community, and serving others. Her unwavering faith was a shining example to all who knew her.

Mary Ann is survived by her beloved husband, John William White, Sr.;her children, Jeff White (Dana), John White Jr. (Christy), Jessica Clifton (Josh), and Joel White (Kailey); her siblings, Judy Stallings and Eddie Farr (Bonnie); 12 adored grandchildren, Jordan, Ravenne, Alyssa, Trevor, Cyndal, Kylei, Kennedy, Emma, Anna, Ella, Kallie and Ryan; and her precious great-granddaughter, Evelyn.

She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love and laughter, that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
