Mrs. Mary McLelland Jackson, age 87 of Chadbourn died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Whiteville. She was the daughter of the late James Barber and Lillie Potter McLelland. A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009 at Piney Forest Baptist Church with Reverend Willard McPherson and Reverend Hubert McCleney officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. She is survived by three sons, Jerry D. Jackson of Charleston, SC, George Randall Jackson of Salisbury, MD, and Jan B. Jackson of Tarboro; sisters, Barbara Herring of LaBelle, FL, Janice McLelland of Whiteville, and Wanda Barfield of Chadbourn; a brother, Edward McLelland of Whiteville; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Life Care Center, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472. Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn is in charge of arrangements.
