Mrs. Margie Russell Friend, age 67 of Nakina died Wednesday, February 04, 2009 at Liberty Commons Nursing in Whiteville. She was the widow of Okie Friend, Jr. and the daughter of the late John and Lillie Belle Branhan Russell. Funeral services were conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Worthington Funeral Home with Dr. Tommy Bryson and Reverend David Kelly officiating. Interment followed in the family cemetery. She is survived by sons, Johnny P. Friend of Charlotte, Timothy P. Friend of Elizabethtown and Okie Friend, III of Tabor City; daughters, Drema D. Isaacs of Lexington and Barbara F. Stocks of Nakina; brothers, Charles Russell of Cabin Creek , WV, James Russell of Fayetteville, WV and Woodrow Russell of Marmet, WV; sisters, Christine Thompson of Christianburg, VA. and Barbara Runion of Lexington; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
