Lois Davis Long, age 83 of Whiteville passed on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Whiteville. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Ricky Parker officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary (VFW Post #8073) in Whiteville. She was the daughter of the late Retha Thrower Davis and Horace Davis, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, John Barnes and Elbert "Sam" James Long and two siblings, Horace Davis, Jr. and Lovelene "Lee" Davis Russ. She leaves to cherish her memories, nieces and nephews, Larry and Denise Sellers of Whiteville, Faye Etheridge of Old Dock, Merle and James Lightsey of Conway, SC, Dalma and Hal Collins of Whiteville, and Mary Sue and Randy Williamson of Whiteville, a sister-in-law, Lolita McPherson of Chadbourn; and many other nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer a very special thank you to Liberty Commons Nursing and Liberty Hospice Services for the loving care shown to our love one during her illness.
