Mrs. Laura Milligan Latta Duke, age 90 of Whiteville died Wednesday at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Whiteville. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Roy Walker and Reverend Chip Hannah officiating. Interment will follow in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery. She was the daughter of the late Will and Josephine M. Milligan and the widow of Bill Latta, Sr. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jackie Burchette; and three siblings, Jimmy Milligan, Cornel Milligan and Estelle M. Evans. She is survived by a son, Gene Burckette of Tabor City; three sisters, Bernice M. Faulk of Ash, Flossie Pearl Knight of Hamlet and Polly M. Horton of Boone; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
