Mr. Joseph Preston Fairfax, age 73 of Cerro Gordo died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at his residence. Final rites will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Mack Watts and Reverend Junior Tyler officiating. Interment will follow in the China Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. He was the son of the late Tillman Preston and Mattie Strickland Fairfax. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Sole Fairfax of the home; four sons, Tony Fairfax of Cerro Gordo, Johnny Fairfax of Bladenboro, Donnie Fairfax of Evergreen, and Christopher Fairfax of Cerro Gordo; sister, Josephine Nobles of Cerro Gordo; two brothers, George Fairfax and Rev. Thomas Fairfax both of Cerro Gordo; 5 grandchildren. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. No service information has been added.
