Jenell "Cricket" Floyd

Jenell “Cricket” Floyd, 82, of Chadbourn, died on Friday, May 19, 2023, at her residence.

Jenell was born on February 23, 1941, in Columbus County, daughter of the late Lottie Leamon Floyd and Chellie Ivey Floyd. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Lena Mae Frink, James Ira Floyd, Edward Floyd, Mary Harrelson, Ida Jane Stewart, Albert Floyd, Roy Sam Floyd, and L.C. Floyd; a niece, Sandra Scarboro and nephews, Gene Harrelson and Richard C. Stewart.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Worthington Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tim Moore officiating; Interment will follow at Porter Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. 

For over 25 years, Jenell worked with the United States Department of Agriculture as a food inspector, and she later worked for W.F. Cox Furniture in Tabor City. 

Jenell leaves behind fourteen loving nieces and nephews, Jimmy Floyd, Linda Baker, Ann Casstevens, Jean Ramsey, Johnny Floyd, George Stewart, Wanda Parsons, Wanda McCormack, Leonor Floyd, Kendra Floyd, Chip Floyd, Vicki Kurtiz, Aymes Floyd, Sarah Bellard.  She also leaves behind many loving great-nieces and nephews.
