Janyce Faye Chenier Barnes, age 71 of Whiteville passed on Monday, August 27, 2018 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Worthington Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Conway officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service. She was the daughter of the late Nancy Lucille Coleman Chenier and Sheldon Lacomb Chenier. Janyce was an educator employed by the Columbus County School System for 30 years. She is survived by two sons, Earl "Shane" Shannon Barnes of Whiteville and Sheldon Jarrett Barnes of Chadbourn; siblings, Billy Chenier (Linda) of Supply, Jamie Chenier (Paula) of Supply, Paula C. Eissens (Dwayne) of Chadbourn, Chris Chenier of Chadbourn and Lee C. Ashburn (Russ) of Mt. Airy; one grandchild, Kinley Barnes. Memorials may be made to Worthington Funeral Home, Post Office Box 352, Chadbourn, NC 28431.
