James “Jim” Lester Horne, age 90 of Easley, SC and formerly of Marion, SC went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 28, 2021.
Jim was born on January 19, 1931, in Columbus County, to the late Albert Lester and Ada Bessie Williamson Horne. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Thompson Horne, a brother, Eugene Horne and a granddaughter, Kristen Elaine Stumbo.
Jim was a member of Marion Baptist Church in Marion, SC for more than 50 years, where he served as a Deacon, taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy, during the Korean War, as a submariner aboard the USS Wahoo.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Worthington Funeral Home Chapel; Reverend J. Floyd Parker will be officiating. Interment with military honors, will follow in the Union Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Whiteville.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, on Friday, at Worthington Funeral Home.
Jim leaves behind his daughters, Deborah "Debbie" H. Stumbo (Cliff) of Greenwood, SC, Bonnilyn "Bonnie" H. Parker (Floyd) of Greenville, SC and Jennifer “Jeni” H. Dover (Chris) of Easley, SC; two sons, James L. Horne, Jr. (Lynn) of Goodlettsville, TN and David T. Horne of Warm Springs, VA; 47 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dorothy"Dot" T, Ward of Chadbourn and Opal T Pope of Mechanicsville, VA. He had many loving nieces and nephews who loved Uncle Buck.
