Obituary

James Monroe “Buddy” Godwin, age 62 of Cerro Gordo, passed away late Thursday evening, March 25, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Buddy, as he was lovingly known, was born on November 4, 1958, to the late James Edward and Carleen Ivey Godwin. In addition to his parents, Buddy was also preceded by his siblings, Paul Dariss Godwin and Joan Godwin.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Worthington Funeral Home with Pastor John McPherson officiating. 

Survivors include his wife, Renee Catherine Bridge Godwin of Watertown, NY; children, Jess Monroe Godwin of Cerro Gordo, Randy Dewayne Godwin (Nancy) of Tabor City, Tonia Nicole Godwin of Cerro Gordo, Crystal Leanne Godwin of Cerro Gordo, Miranda Lynn Godwin of Cerro Gordo, Nicole Renee Bridge (Robert Edwards) of Bladenboro and 12 grandchildren. Buddy also leaves behind a special caregiver, Dianne Hall.
