Jacqueline "Jackie" (Williamson) Bullard

Jacqueline "Jackie" Williamson Bullard, 93, of Bladenboro, NC, entered into eternal rest, August 17, 2023. Born on July 9, 1930, in Columbus County, NC, Jackie was a beloved member of her community.

Jackie, affectionately known as Mrs. Jackie, dedicated her life to her family and her career. Alongside her husband, Earl Bullard, she operated Fowler-Simmons Department Store in Bladenboro. Jackie served as the bookkeeper and was always by Earl's side, providing excellent service to their customers. In addition to running the store, Jackie and Earl were also farmers. Jackie had a passion for gardening and flowers, finding joy in being outdoors. She would not only pick, but also shell peas for their family and friends, while the community kids came to swim in the pool. Jackie took great pleasure in having the children over and proudly mentioned that "Every child in Abbottsburg learned to swim in my pool!" She was also a talented cook, although she never thought so herself. Her daughter Angie would often remind her that her culinary skills were evident just by looking at their family! Jackie also enjoyed mowing the grass, even though she occasionally hit a stump and wondered, "How on earth did that happen?"

At the age of eighty-eight, Jackie had to give up the activities she loved due to terminal heart disease, including her beloved Abbottsburg Baptist Church. Despite her health challenges, she maintained a positive outlook on life, often expressing gratitude for the beautiful life she had lived. She would say, "When God calls me home, I'm thankful to have lived this long!" Now, at the age of ninety-three, Jackie has been called home by God. While her absence will be deeply felt by her family and friends, they find solace in knowing she is reunited with the love of her life, Earl, whom she has mourned for thirty years.

Jackie is survived by her loving children, Doug Bullard, and Angie Bullard, both of Bladenboro. Three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Bullard, and their daughter, Sandra Jean Bullard.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jackie's memory to the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Foundation at 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401-7335. Jackie's family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating her life during a graveside service, which will be held at Porter Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, in Cerro Gordo, NC, Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 11:00 am. Pastor Danny Lewis and Pastor Tim Moore, officiating.
