Jackie Wayne Horne

Jackie Wayne Horne, age 85 of the Mishop Springs community of Whiteville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 1, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. Final rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2017 at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Sheena Cartrette officiating. Interment will follow in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery. He was a member of Mishop Springs United Methodist Church; Lebanon Masonic Lodge #207; Scottish Rites; Sudan Shriners and a member of Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Horne honorably served his country in the United States Army and later in the Army Reserve for a total of 44 years. For 37 years he was employed at Federal Paper and later at International Paper as a bleach plant operator until his retirement in 1994. He was the husband of the late Wilma Ezzell Horne and the son of the late Allie Neill Horne and James Bennie Horne. He was also preceded in death by three siblings, Inez Horne, Charles Horne and James Horne. He leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Wanda H. Leggette (Andy) of Lake Waccamaw, Terri H. Davis (Edward) of Whiteville and Jackie H. Whittington of Whiteville; a son, Gary W. Horne (Karen) of Whiteville; five siblings, Lila H. Winn of Glenn Allen, Virginia, Judy H. Hamilton (Bobby) of Midlothian, Virginia, Betty H. Lane of Virginia, Gail Stocks of Nakina and Peggy Sellers (Jesse) of Chapin, SC ; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Buzzerio, Gary Horne, Jr., Candace Lewis, Casey Horne, Jessica Davis, Kevin Horne and Nicholas Horne; three great-grandchildren, Ally Buzzerio, Addie Batten and Kaylee Baxley. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
