Mrs. Irene Russ Meares, age 81 of Chadbourn died Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2010 at China Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Thomas Fairfax and Reverend Wade Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the Wards Station Church of God Cemetery. She was the widow of I.V. Meares and the daughter of the late Oliver Randolph and Chellie Mae Dyson Russ. She is survived by a son, Randy Meares and wife, Sharilyn of Chadbourn; daughters, Patti M. Strickland and husband, Andy of Cerro Gordo and Dixie M. Turbeville and husband, Mark of Chadbourn; a sister, Maggie R. Walker of Chadbourn; grandchildren, Dana Bright, Jodi Coker, Rex Strickland, Dan Meares, Janell Barnhill and Ivan Turbeville; 7 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
