Horace "Josh" G. Fields

Horace Greely Fields, Jr. better known as Josh, died on Sunday, May 7, 2023, while in the Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center; he lived a wonderful life of 80 years.

Josh was born on November 2, 1942, son of the late Horace Greely Fields, Sr. and Jewel Lassiter Fields. In addition to his parents, Josh was also preceded in death by his siblings, Prudence Fields (infant), Jimmy Lee Fields and Diantha Parnell, and his son-in-law, Malcolm Leroy Brown.

Josh was a graduate of Evergreen High School, and he owned and operated Fields Farm Land Clearing & Drainage.  

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Worthington Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Caines officiating. Burial will follow at the Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton. 

To cherish his memory, Josh leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Gail Williamson Fields; two loving daughters, Karen Fields Brown of Evergreen, Stephanie Fields Hammond and husband, Shayne, of Cerro Gordo; grandchildren, Blair Duncan, Fielding Hammond, Bess H. Frankoff, Myles L. Brown; great-grandchildren, Glennly Frankoff, Hammond Frankoff, Raylee Hammond, and a host of beloved friends and relatives.
