Hattie Frances Bullard Godwin

Hattie Frances Bullard Godwin, age 79 of Cerro Gordo, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. A native of Columbus County, Hattie was born on May 22, 1940 to the late James Newton Bullard and Sadie Moore Bullard. Along with her parents, Hattie was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Bullard Buffkin. Final rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2019 at Porter Swamp Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. Hattie was employed by National Spinning for 31 years and was also the secretary at Cerro Gordo Elementary for 17 years, until her retirement in 2014. Survivors include her husband, Claude Brady Godwin of the home; two children, Kent Dewayne Godwin (Sheila) of Cerro Gordo, Mickie Maria Godwin Davis of Chadbourn; four grandchildren, Bobby D. Godwin (Heather) of Fair Bluff, Drema G. Stephen (Jason) of Florence, SC, Austin Ray Davis of Havelock, Andrew C. Davis of Chadbourn; five great-grandchildren, Kloey, Noah, Skylar, Alyx, and Lylian.
