Mr. Harold Watkins, age 79 of Chadbourn died Wednesday, May 06, 2009 at his residence. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Bryan Blackwell officiating. He was the son of the late Samuel Withers and Emma Zella Blackmon Watkins. He was a veteran of the Navy and later retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 20 years of service. After his retirement he was employed by Data Plex Company in Mississippi for more than 10 years. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Sam Watkins, Jr. and Jeanette W. Lewis. He is survived by two sisters, Phyllis Taylor of Lake Waccamaw and Carolyn Britt of Chadbourn; a brother, Sammy D. Watkins of Chadbourn. Visitation will be one hour prior (2-3 pm) to the service at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. Memorials may be made to the Corinth Baptist Church Building Fund, 3576 Old Hwy 74, Chadbourn, NC 28431. No service information has been added.
