Grace Maybleen Sports Tyner, 86, of Whiteville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, while in the Lower Cape fear LifeCare Angel House. 

Grace was born on August 21, 1939, daughter of the late Boyd Henry Sports and Ruby Mae Culbreth Sports. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Janice Plogger, Lewis Sports, Fred Sports, George Sports, Mary Alice Kelly-Johnson, and Kenenth Sports.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026, at Worthington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Worthington Funeral Home.

The surviving family includes her husband, Bobby Ellis Tyner; children, Duwane Tyner and wife, Phyllis, of Tabor City, Denise Hainsey and husband, Ron, of Whiteville; grandchildren, T.J. McDowell, Tara Boone (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Micah and Mia McDowell and their mother, Kisha Wade (Drew), Braxton, Briggs, and Dallas.
