Gloria Gale (Ward) Green

Gloria Gale Green, 64 of the Kelly Community, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 26, 2023, after an extended illness.

Gale was born in Columbus County on June 1, 1958, the daughter of the late Lorin Newton Ward and Elizabeth Green Ward Matthews. She was also preceded in death by her precious daughter, Rebecca and sisters, Sarah Burney and Susan Gaskin.

Gale was a faithful member of Union Chapel Baptist Church in Lake Waccamaw. She loved her church and church family and was a very active member as long as health permitted, Gale also loved her family and especially adored her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years and care giver, Zebbie “Zeke” Leroy Green; sisters, Cheryl Powell (Walter), Margaret Hinson (Buddy), both of Whiteville; brother, William “Bill” Ward (Gina) of Kelly; brother-in-law, Mike Green of Cerro Gordo; sister-in-law, Betsy Worthington (Randy) of Whiteville; dearly loved “adopted” daughter, Catherine Dickson (Gage) of Armour.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Union Chapel Baptist Church in Lake Waccamaw on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Terry Green officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Union Chapel Baptist Church: 2350 Old Lake Road, Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450.
