Ms. Gene Morrison Oliver, age 81 of Whiteville died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Shoreland Health Care in Whiteville. Funeral services were conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in Whiteville with Reverend Joshua L.F. Bower officiating. Interment followed in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery. She was the daughter of the late Grace Lumsden and Williams Claude Oliver, Sr. Ms. Oliver retired from Whiteville High School where she worked as school secretary. She is survived by a niece, Martha O. Yates and husband, Allen of Chadbourn; great-niece, Courtney Clewis Hayes and husband, Brandon of Chadbourn; great-great-niece, Ansley Hayes of Chadbourn; cousins, Kathy Glover and Bill Taylor both of High Point. Memorials may be made to Whiteville First Presbyterian Church, 511 N. Thompson Street, Whiteville, NC 28472 No service information has been added.
