Frances Lane Shaw Obituary
Mrs. Frances Lane Shaw, age 92 of Wilmington and formerly of Evergreen died Tuesday, December 08, 2009 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Lifecare Center in Wilmington. She was the daughter of the late Henry Walker and Hattie Golden Lane and the widow of Alfred W. Shaw. She retired from the Columbus County School System where she taught school at Evergreen High School and the later as the librarian at West Columbus High School in Cerro Gordo until her retirement in 1982. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Evergreen Cemetery, Evergreen, with Reverend Margaret Hockett officiating. She is survived by two sons, Ken Shaw and wife, Susan of Wilmington and Jimmy Shaw and wife, Tammy of Wilmington; sisters, Dorothy Ann Lane Sweat and husband, Jim of Elizabeth City, Jeanette Lane Hessenius of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; brother, James Lane of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Lane Marcelli and husband, Dave, Ryan Shaw, Brandon Peterson, Lisa Baxley, and husband, Keith, Jennifer Barrasso. Memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home (www.worthingtonfuneralhome.com) in Chadbourn. No service information has been added.
