Fannie Esther Mitchell Green Obituary

Fannie Esther Mitchell Green, 95, left to meet the Lord, Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Final rites will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2009 at St. James Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the St. James Cemetery. She was the daughter of late George & Columbia Blanks Mitchell. She was born in the St. James community where she married the late Joe Green and resided while remaining a faithful servant for the Lord. Leaving five generations of grand children to carry on her legacy. She was preceded in death by eight children, Veater Mearle Campbell, Jatha Jake Green, Edward Green, Emma Webb, Thurman Green, Joe Henderson Green, Annette Green and Julia Agnes Green. She was the last of six siblings, preceding her were three brothers, John Hooper Mitchell, Henry Dudley Mitchell and Haywood Mitchell and three sisters, Dorothy Mitchell Spaulding, Crettie Mitchell, Webb and Alberta Bert Mitchell Spaulding. She is survive by six daughters: Gladys Hawthorne (Lake Waccamaw), Catherine Harris (Lake Waccamaw), Otelia Blanks-Graham (Lake Waccamaw), Esther Carlene Freeman (Bolton), Marcella Jacobs (Bolton), Hilda Jacobs (Lake Waccamaw) and two sons, Abraham Buddy Green (Lake Waccamaw) and Leslie Adam Campbell (home). She is also survived by many grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. No service information has been added.
