Eva Mae Barnes Wallace, 83, of Cerro Gordo, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, in the Columbus Regional Healthcare Center in Whiteville. 

Eva Mae was born on October 23, 1941, daughter of the late Leo Cleveland Barnes and Ruby Strickland Barnes and the widow of Howard Mac Wallace who preceded her in 2001.

She was employed by Mullins Textiles/Ithica Textiles for over 36 years in the seamstress department. She had a deep talent with her hands, be it cooking or crafting. Eva Mae also attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church. 

Surviving family includes two daughters, Abby Wallace Hammond of Fair Bluff and Zelda Wallace Green (Richard) of Cerro Gordo and a son, Howard M. Wallace II (Phoebe) of Cerro Gordo; five grandchildren, Tracy Nance, Mikey Hammond (Cassie), Rich Green, Stephen Wallace and Benjamin Wallace; three great-grandchildren, Shana Nance, Chase Ward and Brianna Ward; two great-great-grandchildren, Asher Nance and Luca Nance. 

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 am in the Barnes Family Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Stocks officiating.  (3609 Cedar Grove Church Road, Cerro Gordo, NC.)
