Mrs. Elsie Elliott Gideon, age 78 of Leland died Friday, January 8, 2010 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Gibson Avenue Baptist Church, Wilmington with Reverend Merrell McKoy officiating. Interment will follow Seagate Cemetery, Wilmington. She was a native of Nichols, SC and the daughter of the late Asha and Buelah Rogers Elliott. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James Minkey Carson Gideon of the home; a step-daughter, Lefell G. Eason of Ocean Isle; two step-sons, James Thomas Gideon and wife, Donna of Holden Beach and Robert Douglas Gideon of Leland; a sister, Dot Phillips of Mt. Olive, SC; a brother, Wayne Elliott of Holden Beach; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Gibson Avenue Baptist Church located at 2037 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington. No service information has been added.
