Elizabeth Brown Stephens Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth Lib Brown Stephens, age 75 of Whiteville began her new eternal life, February 5, 2010 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Care Center in Whiteville. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Ted Riedel and Reverend Linzy Nance officiating. Interment will follow in Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Pope and Roberta Jones Brown; she will best be remembered as Mrs. Lib. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Graham, Rudolph and Elkana Brown and a sister, Pauline B. Bouknight. She and her husband, Mitchell managed the Whiteville License Plate Office from 1978- 1988. She had previously been employed by Braxton Auto Parts of Whiteville. Mrs. Lib was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Whiteville. She was a caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 54 years, Mitchell E. Stephens of the home; a daughter, Ramona S. Long and husband, Guy of Chadbourn; a son, Terry E. Stephens and wife, Melody of Ocean Isle Beach; grandchildren, Stephen J. Ellis, Maggie Stephens and Matthew Stephens. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. Memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Care Center, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28471 No service information has been added.
