Mr. Edwin Earl Packer, age 77 of Chadbourn died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Thomas Register officiating. Interment will follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery. He was the son of the late Walter and Ruth Ward Packer and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Norris and Doris Brown. He was a veteran serving in the US Navy and was founder and manager of Eds Grill in Whiteville for 58 years. He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Packer of the home and Karen P. Adams of Whiteville; one granddaughter and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Monday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. No service information has been added.
