Edith Lea Hinson McPherson

Edith Lea Hinson McPherson age 87 of Clarendon went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Angel House in Whiteville. Final rites for Mrs. McPherson and also for her devote husband of 65 years, Melton McPherson will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2018 at Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Buddy Seay officiating. Interment will follow in the Hinson Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. & Mrs. McPherson will be held from 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church Mrs. McPherson was employed for 38 years in the banking industry where she was employed by Waccamaw Bank, Southern National Bank, UCB and BB&T. She was a lifelong member of Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church, where she served as the president of the local chapter of the Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church Ladies Auxiliary and later serving as the Pee Dee District president for 16 years and was awarded a lifetime membership for her service. She was an avid gardener, she enjoyed writing poetry and loved spending every moment that she could with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most important of all was her lifes prayer to devote her life to care for her husband. She was the daughter of the late Eastie Rea Cribb Hinson and James Gero Hinson and was also preceded in death by three siblings, Clyde Hinson, Cleon Hinson and Carl Hinson. To cherish her memories, she leaves a son, Michael Keith McPherson and his wife, Nancy of Whiteville; a daughter, Lisa Sellers Nance and her husband, Chris of Chadbourn; a brother, Wilbert Hinson and his wife, Hazel of Archdale; grandchildren, Ashley Hayes (Lacy), Jennifer McPherson, Joshua Bryan Sellers (Megan), Michael Blake McPherson, Dylan McClain Sellers, Christopher Nance, Jr., Ben Nance; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Ayden, Bryson, Caige, Chesney, Parker and Paxton. Memorials may be made to Loer Cape Fear Hospice, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472 or to Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church, 2665 Beaverdam Road, Chadbourn, NC 28431.
