Eddie "Ed" Cribb Obituary

Eddie "Ed" Ray Cribb, age 80 of Whiteville, entered into the joys of the Lord on Saturday morning, January 16, 2021, at his home.

Ed Ray was born on June 21, 1940 in Columbus County, to the late Johnnie Essme and Susan Victoria Singletary Cribb. He was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Peyton Huggins.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Cribb Family Cemetery (Alton Singletary Road, Whiteville, NC). Rev. Glenn Vollrath and Rev. Terry Jordan will officiate. 

Ed Ray loved his Lord and served him faithfully. He was of the Holiness faith and was a member of Bethel Holiness Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Cribb was an avid music lover and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing southern gospel music; he lived a life that was pleasing to God and today, he is enjoying the beauties of Heaven. Ed Ray worked for 31 years at National Spinning and also worked as a mechanic, repairing ATVs and motorcycles. In his earlier years, Ed Ray served the United States in the North Carolina National Guard, for a total of six years.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Cilus Louise Carroll Cribb of the home; five children: Ronald Ray Cribb of Nakina, Donna Cribb Brown and husband, Rev. Joey, of Whiteville, Dale Cribb and wife, Susie, of Whiteville, Jimmy Cribb of Whiteville, and Johnny Cribb and wife, Emily, of Providence; grandchildren: Christy Huggins, Kevin Cribb, Karrie Mitchell, Candace Sumner, Eric Brown, Olivia Cribb, Jamie Oxendine, Hannah Cribb, and Grace Cribb. Mr. Cribb also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren and his siblings, Helen Long (Donald Ray) of Little River, Shelvy Hooks of Hallsboro, Dorothy Gore (Joe) of Whiteville, and Brenda Dew (Bobby) of Whiteville.
