Doris (Fowler) Bowen

Doris Fowler Bowen, age 92 of Whiteville, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her beloved family. 

Doris was born on March 29, 1928 to the late Clarence Fowler and Lona Thompson Fowler.  She was the widow of James Soloman Bowen, Jr and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Alexia Bowen; a brother, Maurice Fowler and a daughter-in-law, Marlena H. Bowen.

Doris was an active member at Mishop Springs United Methodist Church for many years. She was employed by the Columbus County Register of Deeds for over ten years.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Union Valley Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jerry Dalton officiating.

She is survived by a son, James Donald Bowen, Sr. of Whiteville; three grandchildren, Tally Bowen of Whiteville, Donald "Donnie" Bowen, Jr. of Whiteville and Sara Elizabeth Frank and her husband, Jeff of Las Vegas, NV; two great-grandchildren, Garrett Havard and Dylan Havard of Maine; nieces, Robbin Bowen, Linda Jablonowski and Teresa Melvin.

The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Henry Traylor and staff for their kindness and patience during her time of illness.
