Cerro Gordo: Dillan Lee Smith, age 14 of Cerro Gordo died Thursday, April 16, 2009 (auto accident) at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville. He was a 7th grade student at Cerro Gordo Elementary School in Cerro Gordo. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Thomas Perritt officiating. Interment will follow in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery. He is survived by his parents, Kelly L. and April Lynn Rye Smith of the home; a brother, Christopher Michael Rye-Recchia of the home; maternal grandmother, Clara Atkinson Segars of Morganton; paternal grandmother, Debora C. Soles of Lexington; maternal great-grandmother, Frances J. Lail of Newton. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. No service information has been added.
