Mr. Davis Ray Godwin, age 83 of Sanford and formerly of Chadbourn died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. He was the son of the late Archie Cromwell and Mary Jones Godwin. Mr. Godwin was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy and later retired from the Navy Reserves. He was a member of the Chadbourn Masonic Lodge #607. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Sean Roberts officiating along with Masonic Rites. He is survived by his wife, Betty Floyd Godwin of the home; a son, Scott Floyd Godwin of Sanford; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
