Mr. Cornie Wynn June Greene, Jr. age 83 of Cerro Gordo died Monday, September 14, 2009 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Doris Hammond Greene and the son of the late Lily Mae Edwards and Cornie Wynn Green, Sr. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy. He was a Deacon at Cerro Gordo Baptist and over fifty years was employed at Washam & Warlick and later as the manager of the Farm Store in Whiteville. Final rites will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Cerro Gordo Baptist Church with Reverend Bobby Mowery officiating. Interment will in the Powell Cemetery in Fair Bluff. He is survived by two daughters, Paulette G. Hinson of Cerro Gordo and Jeanne G. Hayes of Elizabethtown; two brothers, Jack Green of Florence, SC and Kenneth Green of Whiteville; three sisters, Kathleen G. Whitley of Miami, FL, Virginia G. Norris of Whiteville and Louise G. Patterson of Whiteville; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (2-3 p.m.) at the church. A service of Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn No service information has been added.
